Dr. Michael E. Dantley, CEO of MED Consulting, has served as the Bishop and Senior Pastor of the Christ Emmanuel Christian Fellowship in Cincinnati, Ohio for fifty years. Christ Emmanuel is one of the most progressive churches in the city and is known for its emphasis on ministry in the marketplace. Additionally, Dr. Dantley recently retired as Dean of the College of Education, Health and Society and Professor Emeritus of Educational Leadership at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. Before his last higher education position, Dr. Dantley served as Dean and Professor of Educational Leadership of the School of Education at Loyola University, Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Dantley has served as the Chair of the Department of Educational Leadership, Associate Provost and Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs also at Miami University.

His research focuses on leadership, critical spirituality, and social justice especially leadership in urban school contexts. Dr. Dantley has been widely published in leading journals in educational leadership and in hallmark texts on leadership and social justice. He served most recently as the Past Chairman of the Board of the American Association of Colleges of Teacher Education and is a member of the Steering Committee of Education Deans for Justice and Equity and a member of the Steering Committee of the Coalition of Black Education Deans. He also is the CEO of MED Consulting, LLC in Cincinnati, Ohio and will become one of the leadership coaches for deans and department chairs initiated by the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education and will serve on the 2024 faculty of the Leadership Academy for the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education.

Dr. Dantley’s recent publications include Critical consciousness and spirituality: Deconstructing the colonizing practices of US education through the lens of Paulo Freire and critical spirituality. In P. McLaren and S. SooHoo (Eds.). Radical Imagine Nation and Critical citizenship and anger: a reconstructionist resistance to the election of Donald J. Trump. International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education. Dr. Dantley’s new book, Leading With A Critical Spirit: New Strategies for Educational Leaders was published in October 2023.

Dr. Dantley currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Cincinnati, Hamilton County Library Foundation, the Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, the School Board School Board of Directors, and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Community Advisory Board.
